Finally, the sub 6FPE UNREGULATED GK1 is now available. This means that now your options for the GK1 have expanded!
Before the arrival of the current gun, we were sending the regulated version of the GK1, which was a Wolfiek Group development for the GK1.
This version not only provides the benefits of having a regulator, but also allowed us to tame the GK1 and have it shoot safely and consistently under 6FPE.
We called this version the GK1 V3 “R”, for Regulated. Now, finally, you can now choose a different path – the Unregulated GK1, but also sub 6FPE. This gun shoots safely and consistently at sub 6 FPE too, making it UK-legal. Huben has chosen to name this gun the GK1 V3-R.
Therefore, in order to avoid any confusions in the future, we’ll rebrand the regulated version as the “GK1 V3 Regulated”, and the sub 6FPE unregulated version will be now called as the manufacturer named it – “GK1 V3-R”
No. Both versions, while being sub 6 FPE capable, can be tuned up to much higher power levels.
Power adjustment is done in the same way for both (or any GK1) versions: through the power wheel that is adjusted through the grip.
The V3 Regulated has the advantages of the regulator: better consistency and efficiency. At the same power level, it will be more efficient and provide you with a better shot count. On the other side, the GK1 V3-R, when tuned up, has the potential to achieve much higher power levels, due to the fact that it is unregulated.
The standard V3 and the V3-R are operated exactly in the same manner. The V3 Regulated has the fill port on the front of the airtank, right where the gauge shows the fill pressure. Other than that, for power adjustment and any other operating principle, all of the guns are used in the same way.
We’ve set the regulator to the perfect pressure for what the gun and the plenum are capable of. We emphatically don’t recommend playing with the regulator AT ALL. Use the same way to adjust the power as with the other V3 versions – through the power wheel.
No. The GK1 V3 Regulated is based on the standard V3, to which a regulator was added. When removed and used with the non-regulated kit, it becomes a standard GK1 V3. This means that, unlike the V3-R, at the lowest power levels it doesn’t dip down below 6FPE.
Both versions have their merits. This question is answered based on the performance difference between them and the shooter’s preference. If you want maximum shot count at sub 6FPE, then the regulated version is the key. If you want to have the potential for the absolute maximum power, then the V3-R is what you’re looking for. There is a balance and compromise in between that will depend on each shooter’s preference.
